Arleen Wild is a Mixed Media Textile Artist.
I have always been inspired by nature and the natural work so you will see this reflected in my work.
I was born in Jamaica and came to the UK 25 years ago and have been interested in gardening since the age of 3 and have always dreamt of living in the countryside.
I now reside in the Chilterns, South Oxfordshire, and am fortunate enough to have access to miles of ancient woodlands. It is excellent environment for observing and sketching the countryside.
I work in a combination of media - acrylic paints, oil paints, and pastels are used on canvas or paper to establish a base for the picture. This is then enhanced with collage and free motion machine emobroidery to produce the final unique piece of art.
I have spent 6 years training in both modern and traditional embroidery and hold a City and Guilds Parts I and II qualification. I have also attended various art and textile workshops and short courses. I have been a professional artist for 5 years and sell my work through Contemporary Art Shows and Handmade Art and Craft shows.
